She Said “Astrix”

While I was searching for winter boots on Wanted Shoes’ site, I haphazardly stumbled across some shoes that – at least for the next few months – are going to be kept well away from this London downpour.

The Astrix‘ heels from Tony Bianco are obviously worth the wait. Though you order them in ‘Blue Multi’, the colours move from a baby blue pointed toe into a nude-coloured topline and stiletto heel. The shoe also comes in a black & white and silver & nude option, but this pretty combination was the first to catch my eye.

She Said “A Beautiful Future”

I would say I’m bias to Sarah Burton (the designer for Alexander McQueen) but when someone is this talented, I can promise you, I try to be as judgemental as possible.

Fact is, I’m in love with these horseshoe-soled floral platform heels. A supermodel-making six inches of heel under a 2.5-inch platform, these fantastical sculptural sandals are on another level. Inspired by “a beautiful future”, the heels combine red, purple and shocking pink enameled paillette roses as well as bead embellishment with tulle backing which buckles at the ankle. Statement shoe synonymous.

She Said “Reva”

With a red heel, two things come to mind: Dorothy and Little Red Riding Hood. Red, as an accessory, is always a good choice.

Jean-Michel Cazabat obviously got the message, being the designer behind these crimson Reva Mary Jane Wedges. The 4 inch wedge is beautifully sculptured, and the thin ankle strap keeps the shoe from looking heavy. The rich suede certainly doesn’t hurt things, either.

She Said “Alex Fin”

The perfect statement shoe: the Terry de Havilland “Alex Fin” platforms will surely stand out against the rest.

The black suede and contrasting electric blue snake print trim provide a vibrant distinction. While the snake print alone adds a really beautiful touch, it is the snake print fin on the back of the chunky heel that truly makes this pair of platforms stand out. The fin, reminiscent of the tip of a flame, will leave others scorched in your path. The buckled ankle strap and peep toe make it an impeccable summer to autumn heel, and the 1-inch platform gives a little break to your foot in a 5-inch heel.

She Said “Niro”

There is something very interesting about the way a designer’s education affects their style.

These suede open-toe sandals from Jerome C. Rousseau got me thinking about it. While the overall look is very Rousseau, it could also easily be confused as a Peter Pilotto or Matthew Williamson creation! (All three designers studied at Cordwainers College). Regardless, these leather-stitched ‘Niro’ platforms make for beautiful shoes.

She Said Zakia

As a bride, white shoes may look beautiful, but they aren’t especially practical to wear post-wedding.

A safer option? Something blush-coloured and fabulous like these “Zakia” d’Orsay pumps from Badgley Mischka. For that feminine feel, they have a beautiful tulle-wrapped heel and a tonal tulle bow, to boot. The ankle strap is also removable, in case you wished to wear them two ways.

She Said “To The Max”

When us ladies “think pink”, we don’t necessarily dream up images of spikes.

But, if this spot from Vogue Japan’s May 2012 issue is anything to go by, it’s not such a bad thought to have. These Max Kibardin stilettos are something else. While model Saskia de Brauw can stun even while shoeless, these spikes and studs take her Lori Goldstein-styled look to a whole new level.

She Said “Sherbet”

While the weather refuses to be as warm as we would like it to be, that does not mean our newest shoes have to follow suit.

Think “Spring” in these Versus décolleté patent-leather and mesh pumps. Let the pastel colour remind you of simpler times (such as choosing your favourite flavor from the ice cream shoppe). With scoops of bubblegum, lemon and cotton-candy blue hues, this pump is a delicious treat. A five-inch heel and 1-inch platform provide the perfect boost not only for more height, but also to keep a smile on your face. The zipper detail on the back provides a fresh look to buckles. Go ahead and take a bite.

She Said “Leafy Greens”

The stores we frequent most have started pushing out their new Spring items. And even though there is snow on the ground, it gives us hope for warmer and nicer weather.

These Charlotte Olympia platform heels are just what the world needs to brighten up its day. The upper is a beautiful cutout resembling a leaf in a fresh pastel green. The ankle straps have the same cutout but the colour is a little mintier. The straw heel brings memories of cute espadrille wedges with tans and painted toes. An adorable salmon stiletto heel will bring a spring to your step when winter is at your door. What the world needs now is some sunshine and the promise of lush green leaves on the trees.

She Said “Lady Mouse”

Need a quick fix for those girly cravings you occasionally have? Try these red and white polka dot heels from Nine West.

These heels make quite the lovely day shoe - if I do say so myself - with a 3.5 inch heel and rounded toe. While I usually back away from anything red with white polka dots (fear of looking like Minnie?), I find the combination absolutely fantastic. It is simply chic. A lady-like reminiscence, perhaps, of times gone by? Nine West even gives you a choice between the red and white, black and white, and navy and white if one is not exactly your taste. Note to self: skip the big red bow headband whilst wearing these heels.
