She Said “Motif”

I often have days where, fashion-wise, all I want to do is concentrate on my shoes. These pumps have just sent me into a tizzy over the next of them.

Because a neon-lemon shoe is not enough for Mr. Nicholas Kirkwood, the shoe designer has added a multicoloured graffiti-inspired motif to the 5-inch silk-satin heels. Thanks to the 2-inch concealed platform and square toe, these bright beauties will be a breeze to jet around in, as well.

Jessica Alba in Fendi – InStyle February 2013

Does anyone else feel like it has been an absolutely eternity since seeing Jessica Alba in a fashion spread? I’ve missed this beautiful lady!

As you could conclude, Mrs Alba is the cover star of February 2013′s issue of InStyle US. In Fendi colorblock sandals (currently available in black). Winning. These heels are from Fendi’s S/S13 collection – a collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood – and have layers of lizard print leather to balance a fully studded heel.

Additional props include a S/S13 floral dress from Marni, a Delfina Delettrez Infinity rubber choker, Infinity gold plated necklace, and her two daughters. (I kid, I kid.)

She Said “VS Fashion Show 2012″

There you have it, wannabe angels and shoe lovers: every shoe worn at this year’s Victorias Secret Fashion Show!

Each show was created by Nicholas Kirkwood and tied into the story of each model’s ensemble and themes. Kirkwood had been approached by VS much earlier in the year – alongside their chosen themes and fabrics – and the designer created everything from over the knee boots to glitter-packed booties and pink roller skates to sky-high platforms to compliment the creative direction of the most expensive fashion show on earth. The shoes will be available as bespoke made-to-orders but won’t be available in stores.

She Said “Pump It Up”

Because I endeavour to rock black tights and heels throughout most of Winter, a new pair of purple tights has sent me on the hunt for matching heels.

And, well, these are the dream. Nicholas Kirkwood‘s raspberry-coloured glitter platform pumps may not be completely purple but the one-inch stack of glitter only further enhances the shoe, to me. The patent leather pumps feature an almond toe, an ankle strap with adjustable buckle, a thin gold 5.5-inch stiletto heel, and a whole lot of sparkle.

She Said “Statement”

There is a point when we, as women, end up veering from a sensible search for boots to adding dreamlike rabbit-lined feather and suede boots to our shopping carts.

These Nicholas Kirkwood boots, exclusive to Net-a-Porter, are certainly of the latter variety. The award winning shoe designer has combined black feathers with suede and a beautifully gilded four-inch heel to add something special to your typical knee-high boots. Typical, they certainly aren’t.

She Said “Kirkwood for Erdem”

Another day, another soul-exploding shoe find.

Today’s obsession comes from the talented designer minds (and one of my most anticipated designer collaborations…ever) of Nicholas Kirkwood and Erdem. You could call them leather pumps, but it wouldn’t do them justice. Not only do these 4.5 heels have beautifully printed green silk, but a geometric and mixed media-rocking block caboose. Clear and black acetate are a statement making duo, indeed.

She Said “Under The Sea”

It is officially cold. The winter blues may begin to set in soon. *snuggle snuggle sniff sniff*

Don’t fret, mes chèrs! These Nicholas Kirkwood metallic python platform pumps will cure your winter sadness! The colours are reminiscent of The Little Mermaid (one of everyone’s favourite Disney movies, let’s be honest). The purples and blues of the metallic python create an almost water-like appearance – a shimmer if you will. Skinny leather straps make their way through luxurious snakeskin into a slingback strap. The heel measures 5 inches with the platform at approximately 0.5-inches. The padded insole will provide the comfort you need while swimming mingling with guests at a holiday party. A sure way to brighten up the holidays!

She Said “Candle Sandal”

While these heels aren’t for everyone, any fan of Kate and Laura Mulleavy will probably fall in love.

The ladies from Rodarte collaborated with Nicholas Kirkwood on this “Wrap Candle Sandal” for Fall/Winter 2011 and were inspired by sleepwalking and all it’s dreamy trappings. Texturally sublime and visually complex, it’s a daring and wild alternative to your other ‘fun’ heels, I’m sure.

She Said “Woodsy”

You know those designers that light up your little fashion heart upon hearing their name? Nicholas Kirkwood is one of mine.

Hearing that Kirkwood was doing a shoe collaboration with Rodarte – another of my favourites – makes it all the better. This Spring/Summer 2011 “Woodsy” heel is one of the results. I mean, GASP. When seeing this ‘in real life’, it became an instant must-have. A shoe spectacle that has the most comfortable, chunky heel in the world. Wouldn’t you fall in love with someone if you saw them in these?

She Said “Pollini Power”

Kicking a name like Jonathan Saunders out as your creative director will raise an eyebrow or two. That is, until those eyebrows realise the replacement is shoe necromancer Nicholas Kirkwood.

Italian brand Pollini have done just this. In an intelligent move, they have now killed their ready-to-wear and are focusing on their strength – shoes and accessories. The new styles are fantastic, as you can see. In addition to his new placement, Kirkwood has also launched the Pollini ‘Forward Designer’ Project, a unique collaboration where five select designers had shoes for their Spring/Summer 2011 shows produced by the brand. Those involved included Preen, Manish Arora, Meadham Kirchhoff (favourite show of the season), Louise Gray and Michael Van Der Ham. Savvy.
