She Said “A Beautiful Future”

I would say I’m bias to Sarah Burton (the designer for Alexander McQueen) but when someone is this talented, I can promise you, I try to be as judgemental as possible.

Fact is, I’m in love with these horseshoe-soled floral platform heels. A supermodel-making six inches of heel under a 2.5-inch platform, these fantastical sculptural sandals are on another level. Inspired by “a beautiful future”, the heels combine red, purple and shocking pink enameled paillette roses as well as bead embellishment with tulle backing which buckles at the ankle. Statement shoe synonymous.

She Said “Bound”

They may be the worst possible shoes when it comes to tan lines, but they’re the best possible shoes when it comes to the cool factor.

These knee-high gladiator wedges from Alexander McQueen are on another level. They’re something of a corset, something of a gladiator sandal, and something simply beautiful. The 5.5-inch curved wedge heel has a cutout detail and continues the pebbled leather and gold tones of the entire open toe shoe.

She Said “Emerald”

“Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.” That may be so Captain Jack Sparrow, but these Alexander McQueen skull-embellished suede pumps are more than worthy of a pirate’s booty.

Showcasing gold studs on the 1-inch partially concealed platform and a pale-green crystal-encrusted Mohawk skull just above the almond peep-toe, these heels will take any sweet outfit to the next level. The attention grabbing emerald colour paired with your favourite black skinnies or a-line skirt makes for a perfect colour pop. The extra 5.5-inches of heel will give you the upper leg in any situation. Raise your flags, ladies!

She Said “Embellished”

When thinking about “embellishments”, the items which usually comes to mind include jewels, tassels, beading, or feathers.

I feel that calling Alexander McQueen’s wedges (seen here) “embellished” nearly sounds commonplace; much too normal to give justice to this voluptuous heel. With gold, black, and silver crystal stones wrapping around your ankles and freshly manicured toes, you will dazzle even the most determined Scrooge over the holiday season. Like wearing jewellery on your feet, the curved heel measures 5.3 inches and acts as a statement for the avant-garde. This season, there aren’t many other shoes that offer such elegance, in reality, when seeming so simple at first glance.

She Said “Skull”

Normally skulls make me think of poorly dressed children. However, these Alexander McQueen pumps are absolutely delightful.

The royal blue suede provides a lively touch of elegance against the gold studs and crystal-embellished skulls. The colour – along with the skulls – screams power. Move out of the way for the woman wearing these. The heels measures approximately 5-inches and the concealed platform is approximately 1.5-inches. These peep-toe heels embody the label’s classy yet edgy aesthetic. When wearing these, try something a little less classic from your wardrobe, ie. leather pants or a shredded cardigan. Even if you aren’t feeling particularly daring, I will bet these heels will spin your mood right around.

She Said “Curvy Reds”

Like I mentioned on my fashion blog, I am a little bit obsessed with a new shopping find: Farfetch.

Though it – on paper – is simply a website with great designer choices to shop from, the Cool Factor runs much deeper. The point of Farfetch is the worldwide availability of over 1000 of the best designers that you can cart in one online community and have delivered absolutely anywhere in the world.

As a huge Alexander McQueen fan, one of the first things I searched for on the site was Alexander McQueen shoes. And boy, did I find some. From the US, to London, to Paris, Farfetch had some of the best footwear choices from McQueen’s HBIC fashion designer, Sarah Burton, available anywhere.

Take these curved red velour wedges with peep toe, ankle strap, gold tone buckle, and 5.5″ heel (with a 1″ platform!). Great design and great colour are always worth your time. In China, red is the color of prosperity and joy. Red roses symbolize passionate love. Red is also the color of passion. Then now I’ve seen these heels? Red is the colour of the week.

It may be a long aesthetic stretch from Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, but Sarah Burton shows absolutely no sign of slowing down. Love love love.

She Said “Petunia Pink”

It may not be the infamous skull and crossbones, but it is still Alexander McQueen awesomeness.

Though these petunia pink suede ankle boots are a slight departure from the Lee McQuen aesthetic, the 5.5-inch heel is uniquely definitive of archived shapes. Smart move, catering to a more femme-friendly look there, Sarah Burton.

She Said “Leaves”

Gasp. Sigh. Swoon. I LOVE YOU, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN. You make me want to scoop all the foliage up and stick it on my feet. But I won’t.

I think I’d be better off investing in your leather and metallic wedge sandals, because they are phenomenal. With a gold, leather T-bar and sculpted, 6-inch leaf wedge heel. Truly, if the love deal wasn’t sealed, it would have only taken the buckle ankle strap to do so. Wow, heels.

She Said “Simply The Best”

For the many bad qualities the fashion industry needs to break, one habit worth holding onto is the death-defying shoes of Alexander McQueen.

For Fall/Winter 2011, three heels really caught my eye:
Shoe One: Black-haired platform bootie, cut-out metal heel bar.
Shoe Two: White, studded platform, lace-locked bootie with a dagger in the heel (!!).
Shoe Three: Same platform as shoe two (without dagger), aztec-styled sandal with buckles at the ankle.

She Said “Highest Heels”

For a long time, four inches (or 10.2 centimeters) was a “killer heel”. Oh, how times have changed.

Here is a display of Autumn/Winter’s craziest heel heights:

Highest Heel Pierre Hardy

At 11.5cm we have a Pierre Hardy Multicoloured Platform

Highest Heel Nicholas Kirkwood

At 12.5cm we have a Nicholas Kirkwood charcoal stiletto

Highest Heel Alexander Wang

At 13.5cm we have an Alexander Wang platform ankle boot

And the highest of all - an Alexander McQueen 15cm gold bootie
